SARJANA is an international peer-reviewed journal published twice a year by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya.  Contribution of articles based on original research are invited from scholars working in the Humanities and Social Sciences. 

SARJANA publishes original papers, literature review papers, conceptual framework, case studies and book reviews. 

All papers submitted to SARJANA should be original in nature, never previously published. All the submissions will be peer-reviewed. Submitted papers should meet the internationally accepted criteria and the manuscript should follow the style of the journal for the purpose of both reviewing and editing. 



The journal SARJANA publishes research papers in the fields of humanities and social sciences such as in anthropology, sociology, communications studies, cultural studies, development studies, education, media and communication studies, international relations and strategic studies, history, geography, political science, psychology, visual arts, women and gender studies, literature, philosophy,  ethics and so on. 

SARJANA is a broad-based open access journal which provides a forum for academics, graduate students and PhD candidates, research institutes, non-academic researchers and others to write and debate on relevant issues across all fields of social sciences and the humanities. 


The Editors and/or Editorial Board should:

Review the submitted manuscripts.

Information pertaining to the submitted manuscript should be kept confidential for the review process.

Disclose any conflicts of interest.

Evaluate manuscripts only for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political ideology of the authours. 

Be responsible for making publication decisions for submitted manuscripts. 

Review suspected incidents of plagiarism. 

The Editorial Committee ensures ethical publishing practices are complied with and the integrity of the publication is upheld.  In addition, editors will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred. In the event, the journal editor/s are made aware of any allegation of research misconduct the editors will deal with the allegations appropriately. The journal will retract articles that are found to have committed research misconduct. 

 Author's responsibilities:

*To carefully read SARJANA's Author Guidelines before submitting their manuscript.

*To ensure that all names that appear as the manuscript's author or authors have significantly contributed to the research and the writing of the manuscript.

*To confirm that the manuscript is not under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere.

* To confirm that all the work in the submitted manuscript is original and to acknoeledge and cite content reproduced from other sources.

*To declare any potential conflicts of interest.

* To disclose any funding support.
