Henna According to the Perspectives of Hadith and Science

Abstract

Henna is a type of plant that is well known among the Malay community. It is commonly used as a colouring agent and as a beautifying element for brides in traditional wedding ceremonies. However, the functions and potential of henna are far more significant. Based on this premise, this article aims to highlight the perspectives on henna and its benefits within the treasury of Islamic knowledge. The analysis is conducted by specifically referring to hadith literature and scientific studies on henna. The findings may be utilised to expand the role of henna within society and to explore a more global commercial market for henna.
